Aruba airport lounges can make the trip home more comfortable, but the useful question is which lounge you can actually reach for your flight. At Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA), your destination, travel day, credit-card benefit and the airport’s construction routes all matter.
Here is a practical guide to food, a final drink and somewhere to sit before departure. Information checked November 5, 2026; times are local to Aruba. Recheck the linked airport and lounge listings before traveling.

Start with your departure route
Flying to the United States? Aruba has U.S. preclearance: after check-in, passport control and security, you still need to complete U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing before going to your departure gate. Non-U.S. travelers proceed toward their gates after security. Follow the airport’s current departure instructions; do not assume you can move freely between departure areas.
For winter 2026–2027, U.S.-bound passengers may enter the U.S. Check-In Terminal no earlier than three hours before their scheduled departure. Earlier arrivals wait outside. A delayed flight does not move that arrival window: use the original scheduled time. The airport also says CBP closes at 6 p.m. Check its passenger-flow advisory and your airline’s instructions before leaving for the airport.
Our suggestion: complete the required departure formalities before settling in for a long meal or lounge visit. Leave time to reach your gate, and keep your own boarding reminder.
Aruba airport food before security
If you want a meal before entering the departure process, start with the public areas. These also give an early-arriving travel companion somewhere to wait without needing lounge access.
The food-truck plaza outside Arrivals
The airport lists four local concepts in front of the Arrivals Hall. Its food-truck guide includes menus and these hours:
- El Tio Express: street food including arepas and patacones; daily, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Santos x Keda Keto: coffee, pastries and local ice cream; daily, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Mauchi Smoothies Juice Bar: smoothies, juices and lighter choices; daily, 7 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
- Dushi Flavors: local dishes; Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sunday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
Choose the public-side option only when it fits your check-in schedule. A food stop is not a reason to delay entering when your flight’s group becomes eligible.
Panda Express, coffee and a drink
Panda Express’s airport listing gives two locations: Gate 4 and the area between Arrivals and the U.S. check-in terminal. It currently lists opening days as Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with temporary closures Tuesday–Thursday. It does not distinguish the schedules of the two branches or provide exact opening times, so confirm before counting on either one.
The airport dining directory also lists Juan Valdez between Arrivals and U.S. check-in, Mello Bar at Arrivals, and Café Abraço on the outside plaza of the non-U.S. departure hall. Treat these as places to check, with current availability confirmed on the day.
Food and drinks near the gates
Once you know your gate and have finished the required processing, look nearby first. The airport’s directory currently lists:
| Area | Options to look for |
|---|---|
| Gate 4 | Freshii, Haya Sushi, Panda Express, The Old Dutch Bar and Wine Port |
| Gate 5 | Sbarro, Nathan’s Hot Dogs, Auntie Anne’s and Grab & Go |
| Gate 6 | Cinnabon and One Happy Bar |
| Gate 7 | Carvel and Juan Valdez |
| Gates A/B | Quiznos and Segafredo |
For a last cocktail, One Happy Bar publishes daily hours of 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m. For coffee near Gates A/B, Segafredo lists 6 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. An outlet’s published hours do not establish access from your departure area.
Construction changes the plan. The airport’s Gateway 2030 update describes relocated shops and restaurants and a temporary corridor for U.S.-bound passengers. Follow current signs and staff directions rather than an old map. Keep a backup snack plan if a particular restaurant matters to you.
Aruba airport lounges: Gate 2 or Gate 8?
Priority Pass lists two International VIP Lounges. Their published hours overlap; there is no general 2 p.m. changeover in those listings.
| Lounge | Published daily hours | Destination restriction |
|---|---|---|
| Gate 2 | 11 a.m.–7 p.m. | Saturday: only passengers departing to the United States. On other days, confirm the route and eligibility for your flight. |
| Gate 8 | 10 a.m.–5 p.m. | Only passengers traveling to the United States. |
Traveling with children? Both Priority Pass listings say children under 12 are not admitted. A card’s guest allowance does not override the lounge’s age restriction.
The airport’s own lounge page describes Wi-Fi, drinks, soup, bites and snacks, but gives a combined 11 a.m.–7 p.m. schedule for both locations. That differs from Priority Pass’s Gate 8 hours. Check your membership app and ask staff before making the walk. Think of the lounge as a possible place for refreshments, with a separate meal plan if you need one.
Drink allowances also differ between published sources: Priority Pass lists up to three complimentary beers or wines per adult; Amex’s Gate 2 page lists two. Confirm the allowance at entry rather than assuming unlimited drinks.
Which credit cards can provide access?
Check the benefit attached to your exact card and issuing country. The lounge’s acceptance of Visa, Mastercard or Amex as payment is not proof that every card from that network includes admission. These are examples for eligible U.S.-issued products:
- American Express Platinum: Priority Pass Select enrollment is required. Amex describes access for the member and up to two accompanying guests where guests are admitted. Check the current credential and guest rules for your account.
- Chase Sapphire Reserve: Chase currently describes automatic Priority Pass enrollment and up to two complimentary guests. It lists the eligible card or integrated digital membership card as entry credentials; carry your boarding pass and identification.
- Capital One Venture X personal card: enrollment is required. The primary member has participating Priority Pass lounge access; guests currently cost $35 each per visit. Additional cardholder lounge access costs $125 annually. The spending-based complimentary guest benefit for Capital One’s own lounges does not apply to Priority Pass lounges.
- Eligible Mastercard products: Mastercard Airport Experiences lists both AUA lounges, but eligibility and visit charges depend on the issuing bank and card.
Save the relevant digital membership credential before leaving, check guest charges and age restrictions, and keep a fallback plan. Membership does not guarantee space, and airline status alone should not be assumed to cover these independent lounges.
A simple departure-day checklist
- Before leaving: check your airline’s instructions, the airport advisory and your card’s current lounge benefit.
- Choose your food plan: public-side meal, something by your gate, or lounge refreshments if eligible.
- Follow your flight’s route: finish the required checks before a relaxed stop; ask staff if lounge access would take you away from that route.
- At the lounge: confirm admission, guest charges and the current food and drink offering.
- Before settling in: check your gate and boarding time and set a reminder to leave.
